Municipal Register Service

Municipal Census Service

The Municipal Census is the list of all the people who live in a given city, in this case, in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu. Officially all residents in Spain are required by law to register in the census, however, many have not yet done so. The information submitted to the census is confidential and protected by data protection laws.

What are the benefits of registering?

The City Council adapts public services to the number of residents in the municipality, so knowing how many inhabitants there are in Santa Eulària des Riu makes it possible to improve health centres, the number of doctors, police officers, firemen, schools, etc.

In addition, registered residents have access to social benefits and services: those who are registered will often be able to enjoy training courses and discounts on the leisure and cultural activities managed by the City Council.

Travel Discounts: a certificate of residence allows residents of the Balearic Islands to receive discounts on airfares and ferry tickets between the islands and the mainland.

Voting rights: to vote in local and European elections, the first step is to register on the census, after which you must apply for registration on the electoral roll at the census office itself.

Routine administrative procedures: this document is the official proof of your address, which you will have to present in order to carry out almost any administrative procedure: healthcare registration, the Spanish registration record, any traffic-related procedure or enrolling your children at school, etc.

What documents do I need to present to register with the City Council?

  • Original and photocopy of your NIE.
  • Proof of ownership or rental of the property.
  • If you do not own property and are not renting, you must come with the landlord to sign the registration form, which authorizes you to register with the property.
  • All family members over the age of 18 must sign the registration form personally. For under-age children, the family register, birth certificates (translated into Spanish) or NIE must be provided; this register can be signed by the parents.
